ELICITING KNOWLEDGE

PNA’s approach and the methods we use unable us to question knowledge-owners in companies about their internalized knowledge in such a way that we can make this explicit and therefore broadly applicable through IT systems, for example. The cogNIAM® method guarantees the completeness and traceability of the stored knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS ENGINEERING

To achieve business objectives, it is extremely important that the requirements of clients, chain partners (end users) and other people involved are formulated so that the delivering party also understands them and can satisfy expectations. The fact is that nothing is more frustrating that overrunning project deadlines and budgets because it turns out that your request was not correctly interpreted by the supplier. With Requirements Engineering, PNA provides a practical, methodical solution that shows you how to specify high-value requirements clearly and – most of all – uniformly. We make sensitive handover points and phases during projects reliable and we make procedures predictable and controllable. Of course we use the cogNIAM® method for this in order to draw up complete, correct specifications, and for communication purposes.

BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT

Primary business processes must always prevail in your organization. And that can be achieved through well-founded Business Process Management. The more accurately that business processes are identified, the more insight there is into how they function and the impact that changes have on them. In this respect, PNA advises using a standardized notation and method, simply because this enables everyone to identify business processes in the same way and process optimization can be put into effect. This returns control to the organization. It promotes customer-focused working and enables companies to once again focus on effectiveness and efficiency, as well as on innovation, flexibility and integration. With available supporting technology (software applications and apps) where necessary, of course.

MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT

Data are the new gold. And you want to actively target this in your company, with a clear view of what’s going on. Which means that data have to be reliable, correctable, and accessible, and discrepancies have to be apparent. However, in recent years, data flows – both incoming and outgoing – have grown explosively and exponentially. In order to continue to steer and generate relevant business data, many organizations have opted to link systems together where possible, without taking account of the impact of master data and the need for approaching them from a uniform perspective. Which means the cart being put before the horse for a long time, because master data actually span systems and processes and should be approached as such. It’s your business that should come first, and not the technology. Information about customers, for example, can be stored in multiple systems but can also be used in very different ways by the various departments or employees in a company. So it’s important to use the same definitions to generate useful reports so that you can control your organization more effectively. PNA devotes all its resources to achieve 100% quality of all your data, whether they come from your systems or the heads of your employees. We check your data on validity, consistency, integrity, accuracy and relevance in order to arrive at a view that is organization-wide.

SMARTSCRUM

The Scrum method, which comes from the IT world, promises to achieve (partial) objectives/deliveries predictably, efficiently and sustainably with clockwork precision by deploying multidisciplinary teams. Something workable should be produced in a short time – called an ‘iteration’. Demonstrable results are delivered. Every day, a team consisting of business and technical experts meets to share knowledge in an effective way. This enables organizations to keep control of the lead time, costs and the involvement of multiple (external) parties. Of course, PNA combines Scrum with our cogNIAM® method. The result is SmartScrum, which enables our clients to quickly communicate results both inside and outside the project team from a single knowledge model. We already store definitions that will recur or be needed later in the project in the first phase – phased 0. In short, we draw up a smart register of concepts, adding an extra basis to Scrum. This leads to a lead time that is 30% shorter than normal, and a valuable cost reduction of 20-30%.

APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

PNA also designs and builds its own client-focused custom-made applications. By also developing our own software, we can relieve our clients of all of their concerns. For example, we develop salaries applications, HRM applications and pensions applications. In this process, we produce a design based on the client’s briefing and the cogNIAM® method in which we first clarify specifications, then validate them, produce prototypes and screenshots, and finally implement the application. Our applications are developed using proven programming languages such as Java and C# in much-used database environments such as Oracle, SAP and SQL Server.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

For us, knowledge management goes a lot further than providing a SharePoint solution or setting up a communication platform. PNA does not think in terms of standard solutions but in terms of the actual demands and needs of the client. And in terms of interaction. That’s a priority in the project that we embark upon with the client. In our opinion, it’s the only way to arrive at optimal answers. Moreover, we think that organizations should never lose sight of their objectives and that knowledge should therefore be comprehensible and accessible for everyone.
