Together with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service and a number of leading partners such as Amsterdam University, PNA has developed an approach to simplify and automate the implementation of regulations and legislation. The aim of this is to obtain a uniform, coherent analysis method for interpreting these regulations and legislation. Policy workers can use Cognitatie to clarify the meaning of regulations and legislation, to classify them, annotate them (adding explanatory notes) and to provide them with relationships. This results in a cohesive whole in which the added knowledge of every individual employee is established and can therefore be accessed.

cogNIAM® Studio

PNA stores an organization’s knowledge at a central location: the so-called cogNIAM® Studio repository. This allows knowledge capital to be maintained and used flexibly while giving an organization full control of its knowledge capital. The cogNIAM® Studio leads to productive knowledge that is accessible to all those involved.

The cogNIAM® Composer is a tool or application in which screens can be designed from the steps in the cogNIAM® Player process simulation. In actual fact, we visualize the dataset produced by the stated specification through the cogNIAM® Composer – a sort of intelligent Paint environment.

The cogNIAM® Player, which is not a production application, provides a friendly, interactive process simulation. The system allows you to actively run through the process and experience it. It goes further than a simple flow chart on paper and provides end users, for example, with a lot more information and insight. The cogNIAM® Player displays all of the steps that are processed during the process, but also shows what happens and why. It’s used to adjust and check named specifications. This makes it a practical tool for checking what the client has told and how this is fed back.
