How are decisions made responsibly?

Have you lost track of your rules? Do you want to know what decisions are based on and how they are made? Do you know which rules apply in which situation? Learn to structure complex rules and decisions using Decision Model and Notation and how to build transparent decision models based on that. You will gain a demonstrably better grip on and insight into seemingly complex situations.

DMN is the international standard for modelling decision rules. Learn how to get a better grip on rules, understand the complexity between rules and make rules accessible for a broad audience by using DMN in combination with our guidelines for the use of the standard.

PNA’s DMN workshop gives you direct access to your knowledge from the source. Our instructors have extensive practical experience and have actively contributed to various world standards. Moreover, by means of an introduction to cogNIAM®, we make connections between processes, rules, data and semantics.

Open workshop DMN, High Tech Campus Eindhoven:

27 & 31 May 2021

Due to COVID-19 our workshops are temporarily offered virtually.

What will you learn during this workshop?

  • Insight into how decisions and decision rules are currently recognized, described and recorded within your organization.
  • Draw up high quality DMN models based on the PNA guidelines.
  • How you can validate your DMN models by consulting domain experts within your organization.
  • How to link DMN models to the relevant source documents in legislation and regulations and/or your internal policy documents.
  • How to relate (decision) rules to the processes, data and semantics within your organization using cogNIAM®.

The DMN standard

Decision Model and Notation (DMN) is the global standard for defining decision-making rules. With the aid of this standard developed by OMG, organizations can elevate the description and modelling of their critical business decisions to a higher level and have them managed by the business. If required, DMN seamlessly integrates with business process modelling in BPMN and information modelling with FBM and may be used to clarify complex decisions, both for the business and for IT.

The unique advantages

A business case that you yourself have selected will be used during the course of the workshop.

During the workshop we share our knowledge and experience with DMN in the form of guidelines for practical use.

You can use DMN in your own organization immediately after attending the workshop.

You obtain your knowledge directly from the source. Our trainers have broad practical experience with national and international organizations and have been actively involved in developing various global standards, including DMN, BPMN 2.0 and SBVR.

The cogNIAM® method

During this workshop we use cogNIAM, a method developed by PNA. A method to map, not only processes, but also data models, rules and semantics of an organization. Because of the simple rules that make up this method, it can be learned by any knowledge worker. Using this method, knowledge becomes structured and integrated into a knowledge model. From this model the knowledge can be used productively within the organization in many different ways and disciplines. For example:

  • To demonstrate that the organization complies with the set rules.

  • As a starting point for an IT project to save valuable analysis time.

  • To introduce new employees to the processes within the organization.
